About Minimum Wage by State Lookup

Minimum Wage by State Lookup shows the current 2026 minimum wage for any US state and compares it directly against the $7.25 federal minimum wage, unchanged since 2009. Twenty states still default to the federal rate, while others β€” led by Washington, D.C. and Washington State β€” have set minimums well above $17 per hour. A full sortable table lets you see every state ranked side by side in one view. Some cities set an even higher local minimum than their state, most notably Seattle, New York City (and Long Island/Westchester), and San Francisco, which the tool calls out explicitly rather than trying to maintain a full city-level table.
